Amy J. Metals is a socially conscious jewelry company, designed to provide unique collections to those who care about looking good, but also care about the world. We truly stand for adornment that goes beyond bling, jewelry that transcends material value and moves into the politics of living. Further, we use simple, effective designs to convey messages that support, rather than exploit, communities that are directly affected by the traditional jewelry industry.

ABOUT ME
The day my friend walked into my studio with a pile of bullets is the day that I went from a hobbyist to a jeweler. Until then, I had been sitting at my jeweler's bench wondering "Is this enough?" The tensions between the delicate and the strong, the precious metals-- the torches and saws used to manipulate them, initially held my interest; yet I knew that something was missing. With a background in Peace and Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Assistance, and having traveled and volunteered in war torn and poverty-stricken areas of the world, social action was and is part of my constitution. In particular, creative social action is what fuels me. On this day, I was introduced to the idea that my art could be connected to issues in the world about which I care so deeply. The bullet: man made, used to oppress, to liberate... for war, peace... survival, destruction; bullets gave me the means to create jewelry that speaks.
